Home bias revisited * Draft : February 16 , 2009

چکیده
We examine a large number of potential home bias determinants, including some novel ones, using extensive panel data. We distinguish between the actual home bias (overinvestment in domestic securities) and foreign investment bias, for which we propose a new measure. For foreign investment bias, we also demonstrate how “size biases” significantly affect the results. We find that the old empirical results based on the U.S. data alone do not generalize to the panel data set; information and familiarity variables and proxies for the degree of capital market openness play an important role in explaining both home and foreign investment biases. * We appreciate the comments and suggestions of Ricardo Brito, Bob Hodrick, Wei Jiang and participants at the Columbia Business School, Platinum Grove Asset Management, and Washington Area Financial Association work shops. متن کاملINTERNET - DRAFT Mobility Support in IPv 6 10 February 2000 Contents
This document specifies the operation of mobile computers using IPv6. Each mobile node is always identified by its home address, regardless of its current point of attachment to the Internet. While situated away from its home, a mobile node is also associated with a care-of address, which provides information about the mobile node’s current location. IPv6 packets addressed to a mobile node’s ho...
متن کاملSimon-gutowitz Bidirectional Traffic Model Revisited
The Simon-Gutowitz bidirectional traffic model (Phys. Rev. E 57, 2441 (1998)) is revisited in this letter. We found that passing cars get stuck with oncoming cars before returning to their home lanes. This provokes the occurrence of wide jams on both lanes. We have rectified the rules for lane changing. Then, the wide jams disappear and the revisited model can describe well the realistic bidire...

This brief paper tries to highlight two important missing aspects for understanding poverty issues in developing countries. They are the economic analysis of the rural non-farm households, and the behavior of land markets. Taking South Asia as a case, this paper claims that without proper understanding of these aspects, it is difficult to formulate an effective solution to the poverty issue. * ...
